Description

The 2007 (S) Proof Wyoming State Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 2.4 million examples, making this ranked 16th of 30 mint variants by mintage, with less than 1% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse depicts a bucking horse and rider, with the inscription "The Equality State." Wyoming's bucking bronco represents its cowboy heritage, while the nickname honors its trailblazing role as the first territory to grant women the right to vote in 1869.
