Description

The twenty-fourth doubled die reverse for the 2007 Wyoming State Quarter, DDR-024 shows medium spread on the horse's mane visible beneath the saddle horn — a different design element than the saddle horn itself, which is the focus of DDR-017. The mane flows from the horse's neck and passes under the saddle horn area, and the medium-strength doubling creates a secondary image of individual mane strands, giving them a thickened or shadowed appearance under magnification. Die markers include UVC-1731 and DMR-027, with staging documented across the die's production life. This variety appears in satin finish specimens from 2007 Mint Sets as well as standard business strikes. Norman E. Nemeth's bucking bronco design provides multiple high-relief elements — the horse's body, mane, tail, and the rider's form — that register doubling differently depending on where the hub misalignment occurred on each working die. Twenty-four doubled die reverses cataloged for the 2007 Wyoming quarter speaks to the intensive variety hunting conducted on the 50 State Quarters series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 320,800,000 Wyoming quarters in copper-nickel clad at 5.67 grams. Cataloged by VarietyVista. Examine the horse's mane beneath the saddle horn for the medium-strength secondary image distinguishing DDR-024.
