Description
The 2007 (P) Proof Desegregation Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 124,678 proof Little Rock Central High School Desegregation dollars dated 2007. The obverse shows the students walking to school beside a soldier, under nine stars, and the reverse the school as it looked in 1957. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #149570.
