Description

The 2007 (P) Presidential Dollar - John Adams, Position A is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 112.4 million examples, making this ranked 14th of 20 mint variants by mintage, with 5% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The second President (1797–1801), John Adams was a key architect of American independence who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and served as the nation's first Vice President. He was the first president to live in the White House and the father of sixth president John Quincy Adams. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $5 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #148054.
