The 2007 Jefferson Nickel is a United States nickel from the Jefferson Nickels Return to Monticello 2006 to Date series — the second year of the series. In 2007, the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints struck 1,202,208,422 nickels, including 1,791,256 satin-finish nickels and 2,577,166 proofs. The obverse shows Jamie Franki's forward-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson in a three-quarter view, introduced in 2006 as the first U.S. circulating coin portrait of a president facing forward, and the reverse shows Felix Schlag's Monticello, restored by John Mercanti. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.21 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Designed by Jamie Franki/Felix Schlag.
