Description

A dollar from the Denver Mint, the 2007 (D) Sacagawea Dollar belongs to the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint reports 3,920,000 struck. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse shows Thomas D. Rogers Sr.'s soaring eagle. The reverse depicts a soaring bald eagle encircled by 17 stars. This original Sacagawea dollar design was used from 2000 through 2008. Production continued for collector products as the Presidential Dollar absorbed the circulating dollar coin role. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #149564.
