Description

The 2006 (S) Proof Nebraska Silver State Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. Total mintage reached 1.6 million. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon, while the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. Designed by John Flanagan/Charles Vickers. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #39121. The 50 State Quarters Program (1999-2008) was the most successful numismatic program in U.S. The program revitalized coin collecting in America. Key issues include the 2004-D Wisconsin "Extra Leaf" varieties and various proof/silver proof versions.
