Description
The 2006 (P) Colorado Satin Finish State Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 847,361 satin-finish Colorado quarters dated 2006. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order the states ratified the Constitution or joined the Union. The reverse features a sweeping view of the Rocky Mountains with evergreen trees and a banner reading "Colorful Colorado." The state contains over 50 peaks above 14,000 feet. The 2006 quarters honored, in release order, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Auction record: $90 SP69 03-14-2023 eBay. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #839024.
