Description

This three-inch bronze medal honors Dr. Norman Borlaug, the American agronomist widely credited as the father of the Green Revolution who is estimated to have saved over a billion lives through his development of high-yield, disease-resistant wheat varieties. Borlaug's work in Mexico during the 1940s and 1950s produced semi-dwarf wheat cultivars that dramatically increased crop yields in developing nations across Asia and Latin America, preventing the widespread famines that many experts had predicted as inevitable. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Congressional Gold Medal — placing him among the very few individuals to receive all three of America's and the world's highest civilian honors. The three-inch bronze duplicate makes this tribute to one of humanity's greatest benefactors accessible to collectors.

Rarity Notes
