Description
The 2002 (W) West Point Dollar was struck at the West Point Mint as a dollar in the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The West Point Mint struck 103,201 uncirculated West Point Bicentennial dollars dated 2002. The obverse shows a cadet color guard before Washington Hall and the Cadet Chapel and the reverse the academy's bicentennial emblem. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. West Point's facility evolved from a bullion storage depot into a key coin production center, now responsible for many commemorative and precious-metal issues. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #21000.
