Description

The 2000 (S) Proof New Hampshire Silver State Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 965,421 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 20 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse depicts the Old Man of the Mountain, the iconic rock formation on Cannon Mountain made of Conway red granite, with the state motto "Live Free or Die." Though the formation collapsed in 2003, it remains a cherished symbol of New Hampshire's rugged independence. Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia. The program drove an estimated 147 million Americans to collect quarters. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $26 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #913014.
