Description

Paired with WWHO-001 as the second doubled working hub obverse for 1989, WWHO-002 (Wexler variety ID 1989 1¢ WWHO-002) shows extra thickness towards center on the date, the top and front of Lincoln's hair, and slightly on the IN GOD WE TRUST motto — a similar but distinct pattern from the first hub. As with all working hub varieties, die markers will vary across different working dies made from this hub, so collectors should expect consistent doubling coupled with varying supplementary surface diagnostics from specimen to specimen. Notably, WDDR-010 is documented as carrying this hub's obverse doubling, meaning coins struck from the WDDR-010 die pair exhibit both the WWHO-002 obverse hub doubling and the WDDR-010 reverse die doubling simultaneously — a dual-variety combination arising from two independent mechanisms at different stages of the die manufacturing process.
