1982 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Bronze Small Date - CU-1C-1982-71 Cud

Description

CU-1C-1982-71 is a cud on the 1982 Bronze Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent. The Bronze Small Date occupied a narrow manufacturing window at Philadelphia in 1982: it required both working dies from the Small Date hub and the original copper planchet supply, a combination that existed for only a brief interval before the lighter zinc blanks replaced the bronze stock entirely. The Bronze Small Date's warm reddish copper tone and heavier hand feel distinguish it immediately from its zinc-core successor, making subtype identification straightforward once a collector has a precision scale. Attribution by Cuds on Coins.
