1982 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Bronze Small Date - CU-1c-1982-27(SD) Cud

Description

CU-1c-1982-27(SD) is a cud on the 1982 Bronze Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent. The Bronze Small Date occupies a narrow production window sandwiched between the Bronze Large Date's initial run and the full transition to zinc planchets. Identifying this subtype requires the collector to verify two independent characteristics: the heavier 3.1-gram weight that confirms the bronze composition and the compact, tightly spaced date numerals that distinguish the Small Date hub from the wider Large Date version. The interior cud on this specimen fills the die void with solid copper-zinc alloy, producing a raised featureless plateau whose warm surface tone integrates visually with the surrounding design field. This entry pairs with its zinc counterpart under the same census designation. Attribution by Cuds on Coins.
