1982 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Bronze Large Date - CU-1c-1982-20(LD) Cud

Description

CU-1c-1982-20(LD) is a cud on the 1982 Bronze Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent. The Bronze Large Date's outsized representation reflects its dominant position in Philadelphia's 1982 die inventory: as the first configuration in production and the longest-running before the mid-year changes, it accumulated more die service hours than any other subtype, and every additional hour of die operation increased the probability of the terminal rim fractures documented in this catalog. At 3.1 grams in the 95% copper alloy with the wider date numerals, this specimen represents the final generation of the copper-era Lincoln cent — a composition in its last months of production when this die fractured.
