Description
The 1981 (P) Jefferson Nickel was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a nickel in the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint produced 657.5 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 64% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Standard production from both mints. The "P" mint mark continued on Philadelphia issues. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4106.
