The 1976 (S) Silver Washington Quarter is a quarter minted at the San Francisco Mint, within the Bicentennial Coins 1976 series. The U.S. Mint produced 11 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features the standard obverse for each denomination with dual dates 1776-1976 and the reverse displays special reverse designs: Colonial drummer boy (quarter), Independence Hall (half dollar), Liberty Bell and Moon (dollar). It was struck in 40% silver for collector sets, under the 1973 law that ordered 45 million silver Bicentennial coins. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $13 depending on grade and condition.
