Description
The 1976 (S) Proof Washington Quarter is a proof cent struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Bicentennial Coins 1976 series. Total mintage reached 7.1 million. The obverse features the standard obverse for each denomination with dual dates 1776-1976, while the reverse displays special reverse designs: Colonial drummer boy (quarter), Independence Hall (half dollar), Liberty Bell and Moon (dollar). Designed by John Flanagan. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6007. The 1976 Bicentennial Coins celebrated the 200th anniversary of American independence. Among the most recognized modern U.S. coins. The 40% silver versions in both proof and uncirculated finishes are collectible. Billions of clad versions were struck for circulation.
