1975 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - CU-1C-1975D-08 Rim Cud

Description

Skipping past position 07 in the catalog sequence, CU-1C-1975D-08 is the eighth documented rim cud on 1975 Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial cents. The gap between CU-1C-1975D-06 and this entry may reflect a variety cataloged in a different batch, a reserved catalog number, or a retracted attribution at position 07. Also titled as a "Rim Cud" in its original listing, this variety was documented by Cuds on Coins and carries no additional cross-reference numbers. Each cud in the census documents a separate die and a separate fracture event, and the clock-position and extent of each break serve as the primary diagnostic criteria for distinguishing one cud from another. Collectors should note that cuds from the same date occupying similar but not identical rim positions require particularly careful comparison against reference images to ensure correct attribution, as the angular differences between adjacent catalog entries can be subtle. Attribution by Cuds on Coins.
