Description
Part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series, the 1974 Lincoln Memorial Cent - Aluminum is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. Congress rejected the aluminum cent proposal. It was an experimental pattern (Judd J-2151) and was never released; the Mint recalled the examples it had handed out, and one is held by the Smithsonian Institution. Struck in aluminum, weighing 0.93 grams, 19.05 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #508060.
