Description
The 1974 (D) Kennedy Half Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. Last year Kennedy Half Dollars were released into general circulation through banks. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $25 to $575 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.3 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a 150 reeds edge. Cataloged as PCGS #96723.
