Cataloged under die markers UVC-311 and DMR-047, the 1963 Proof Franklin Half Dollar DDR-017 shows a widespread but light reverse doubling across multiple design areas: a light spread on E PLU of PLURIBUS, UN of UNUM, UNITED, AR of DOLLAR, and the tail feathers, with extra thickness on AMERICA. The breadth of affected elements — motto, denomination, and a design device — makes this one of the more extensively distributed light-spread reverse doubled dies for the date. Three die stages are tracked under UVC-311 and DMR-047 in the VarietyVista system. Franklin Half Dollar reverse doubled dies involving the tail feathers are particularly useful for attribution, as feather detail provides a high-resolution inspection target distinct from legend letters.
