Description

Unlike standard doubled dies that originate from a single working die receiving misaligned hub impressions, WWHO-001 on the 1957 Lincoln Wheat Cent records a working hub doubled obverse—a doubling event that occurred at the hub stage of the die-making process rather than on an individual die. This distinction carries profound implications for rarity assessment: because all working dies produced from the affected hub inherit the same doubling, a working hub variety can potentially appear on every coin struck by any die in that lineage, making the variety far more widespread than a single doubled die.
