Description
The 1949 Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 5.6 million, this is a less common issue โ the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 42% of the year's production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. The 1949-S is a semi-key date with a lower mintage. Three mints struck halves: Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $185 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6653.
