Description
The 1946 Iowa Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Silver Commemoratives (1892-1954) series. The U.S. Mint produced 100,057 examples. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, each authorized by an individual act of Congress, while the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Designed by Adam Pietz. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9316. Classic Silver Commemoratives (1892-1954) were half dollars and occasional other denominations struck to honor people, places, and events in American history. A rich and diverse series that spans over 60 years of American history. Many issues had very low mintages and are highly sought after. The complete set is a significant numismatic achievement.
