Description
The 1944-S Doubled Die Reverse DDR-003 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1944 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-189 DMR-002 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Light die scratches over all of Reverse – MDS Die break over E of LIBERTY – VLDS Die crack from top of head Southwest to front hair Die crack from top of head Southeast and then South through hair Stage C: Die scratches on Reverse are worn away – LDS Obverse is VLDS. Reverse is LISTED as RPM-001.
