Description

Nice extra thickness shows on the perimeter on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the dots, and the right wheat. Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A: Concentric die scratches throughout IN GOD WE TRUST. Multiple die scratches running roughly vertically, through and above TY of LIBERTY. Multiple die scratches running roughly vertically under ERTY of LIBERTY. A die crack runs west to east across the base of the bust. Stage B: New obverse die. Heavy crisscrossing die scratches are present above the date. Die scratches, running north to south, through RTY of LIBERTY. Heavy die scratches running NNW on the forehead just below the hairline. Vertical die scratches just below the chin. Reverse: Stage A: Three die gouges show above the left wheat stem tip. Die scratches run northeast from the lower inside of the C of CENT to the E of CENT. Die scratches run northeast from the base of the N of CENT to the T of CENT. Die scratch runs northwest, from the O of OF to the U of UNITED. Stage B: The three die gouges above the left wheat stem tip are still visible. Stage A die scratches are worn away. A die gouge is present between the T of CENT and the right wheat, closer to the wheat. Die scratches are present below the O of OF running SSW. Obverse:
