Description

Struck in the final year of the original Peace Dollar series, the 1935 Philadelphia issue holds a terminal position that gives every die variety from this date added collecting significance. VAM-1 designates the baseline die pair in the Van Allen-Mallis catalog — the standard combination against which all other 1935-P varieties are compared. After 1935, no Peace Dollars would be struck until the modern revival in 2021, making this the last of the line for Anthony de Francisci's original silver dollar design featuring Liberty in a radiate crown and a perched eagle with PEACE below. The 1935 Philadelphia mintage of 1,576,000 places it among lower-production dates without reaching true key-date scarcity.
