Description

A feathered Indian chief, seen full face, rises over a city skyline on HK-470, a brass good-luck piece from Chicago's Century of Progress. "A Century of Progress" runs across the top of the obverse, 1833 and "1933-4" sit on either side of the neck, and Chicago fills the bottom, so the one die served both the 1933 and 1934 seasons. On the reverse a spread eagle faces left inside a circle, with five stars to one side and four to the other, between "Take Me" above and "For Luck" below, all inside a beaded border. Hibler and Kappen list a second Indian head design, HK-470a, which pairs the chief with a woman crowned by an eagle and keeps this reverse. Brass, 33 mm.
