Description

TDC-25c-1929S-01 This Standing Liberty quarter from 1929 is similar in appearance to the 1928 quarter concerning clash marks. However, there is a major difference. By using overlays, it has been determined that there were actually two different clash events. The first overlay shows the relative position of the dies when they did clash that left the lower marks on the obverse die. The second overlay shows the upper clash marks left by the reverse die. Notice that there is a slight offset between the two clash events. As to which event came first, it is unknown. There were no clash marks found on the reverse die. The picture above shows the  E of the motto EPU, an almost full M from AMERICA and a partial R, also from AMERICA. In the picture abovet, a clash mark left by a star can be seen over Liberty’s right shoulder, while the eagle’s tail feathers can be seen protruding from the fabric fold adjacent to Liberty’s right elbow.
