Struck in 1927 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bennington and Vermont's independence from Britain. The obverse features a bust of Ira Allen, founder of the University of Vermont and brother of Ethan Allen, facing left, while the reverse displays a catamount (mountain lion) walking left on a rocky outcrop, representing Vermont's Green Mountain heritage. Designed by Charles Keck. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9401.
