Description

The 1922 (P) Grant Memorial Commemorative Half Dollar - With Star is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Issued in 1922 to honor the centennial of the birth of Ulysses S. The obverse features a bust of Ulysses S. Grant facing right in military uniform, while the reverse displays Grant's birthplace log cabin in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Designed by Laura Gardin Fraser. Cataloged as PCGS #9307. The star variety is considerably scarcer, with a mintage of only 4,256 pieces, compared to approximately 67,000 for the plain version. Both varieties are popular with Civil War collectors and presidential numismatists.
