Description

The 1926 Peace Dollar is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series. With a mintage of 1.9 million, this is a scarce issue โ€” the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 17% of total production. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $75 to $688 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7367.
