Description
The 1925 Lexington Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 162,013 examples. Issued in 1925 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord — the opening engagements of the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. The obverse features the Minute Man statue by Daniel Chester French, standing with musket and plow, based on the famous sculpture in Concord, Massachusetts, while the reverse displays the Old Belfry at Lexington, from which the alarm was sounded on April 19, 1775. Designed by Chester Beach. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9318. A popular commemorative for its Revolutionary War subject matter and connection to two of America's most iconic historical events. The mintage of 162,013 makes it moderately available in the classic commemorative series.
