1925 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent Rim Cud (Obverse 2:00–3:00)
Error
Description
This 1925 (D) Lincoln Wheat cent displays a rim cud on the obverse spanning 2:00 to 3:00. Obverse rim cuds on Lincoln cents are encountered far less often than reverse ones, and this one sits in the rim to the right of the portrait. It records the loss of part of the obverse die's rim gutter, which appears on the coin as a raised interruption in the design rim that tracks the rim's course. Denver struck 22,580,000 cents in 1925, and the four rim cuds previously cataloged for the date are dominated by reverse breaks.
