Description
Hibler and Kappen flag supposed restrikes of HK-779, Tiffany & Co.'s 823-grain silver piece of the Bryan campaign, and this page catalogs one as a 1910 restrike, the year their note on HK-777 gives for Tiffany's restrikes. The signs they describe are a matte surface in many cases and, on the reverse, the fraction bar in 900/1000 starting from roughly the middle of the 9, not from its left side. The design is the 1896 one. The obverse states in seven lines that 823 grains of nine-tenths silver equaled one gold dollar, closing with Sept 14 1896. The reverse frames a flat circle the size of a regular silver dollar, lettered to say so, with "Tiffany & Co." curved along the lower rim. Silver, 52 mm, Schornstein 3.
