Description
==1902-P VAM-22 Doubled Reverse Lettering== Discovered by Raymond Roberts January 2010 22 III2 1 C4e (Doubled Reverse Lettering) (189) Reverse C4e - Hub doubling of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at bottom inside of letters toward rim, upper right and left wreaths towards rim. In God We Trust and top of eagle's head. ''Hub Markers'' - Slightly tripled lower serif on N in UNITED and doubled top of eagle's head. Same hub doubling as 1902-O VAM-26. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # From Leroy Van Allen's letter: "Date is in normal lateral position. No significant die doubling on obverse. Slight doubling on STATES OF AMERICA, motto, upper rt and left wreaths & top of eagle's head. Hub doubling same as 1902 O VAM 26. Tiny polishing lines at wheat leaf and tiny die chips in R of DOLLAR not visible to naked eye." # From follow up email from LVA: Hi Ray: Alan Scott & I have been noticing the same doubled letters on a number of 1902 O rev we have been studying. We both think this may be due to a doubled hub used in 1902 & may affect some coins of all 1902 mint coins,i.e., 02 P, O, S. We haven't studied the 02 P & S much yet-- a future project as Alan is trying to get 02 O Guide out end of this month. ''Leroy
