1900 Bryan Dollar HK-1013, S-11 Uniface
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
HK-1013 (Schornstein 11) takes the reverse of Gorham's 1900 piece HK-782 and strikes it alone on a silver blank of 52 mm. A cartwheel rises from the bottom, its rim lettered with the size of a government dollar of 412 1/2 grains, and three curved lines above it do the sums for that year: the 412 1/2 grains are put at 47 cents 4 mills reckoned in gold, while 870 grains make 100 cents. The back is blank. The figure is higher than the 823 grains on the 1896 pieces. Hibler and Kappen treat these silver statements as more than campaign pieces, since they speak to the coinage of the country, and the cartwheel inscription is listed as Zerbe 5.
