Description
1898 WRPD-001 is a repunched date on the 1898 Barber dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as 1/1898/8: the 1 is repunched to the south and the last 8 to the north. On the obverse, a die crack runs east off the bust's front tip; a strong east-west die scratch crosses the forehead; strong NW/SE scratches lie behind the ear; a small die gouge sits between the ends of the ribbon; and rim gouges sit over the T in UNITED, on its right side, and over the RI in AMERICA. The reverse has a NW/SE scratch above the right oak leaves, and strong NW/SE scratches cross the lower right wheat grains. Jason Mondy submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
