Description
1883/18. Repunching of the 18 shows south of the primary date. Repunching shows on the 3 of the date, which may be typical. Die Markers: Obverse: Light die scratch from the right lower point of star L2, southeast to the forehead. Light die crack from the left side of star L1, through the star and through the bonnet to star R1. Very light die cracks running through stars R3 to R6. Reverse: No CENTS. Die crack south from the rim at 12:30 o'clock, turning east over the top of the second S of STATES, OF and turning north back to the rim at 1:30 o'clock. Die crack northwest from the first A in AMERICA intersects the crack at 1:30 o'clock. Die crack NE from the rim at about 9:00 o'clock, through UNITED and to the first S in STATES.
