Description

=1878-P VAM-11 Doubled Reverse= Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 11 I2 6 - A1f (Doubled Reverse) (180) Reverse A1f - Doubled lower and left wreath, all of legend, and stars. Three small feathers added on eagle's right and two on eagle's left side between leg and bottom of wing. Eagle's right leg and right wing doubled on outside. Olive branch leaves are doubled on outside. Comments: The VAM-11 is considered to be a listing error as this VAM is not known to exist. The reverse however is used by other listed VAMs. ANACS has slabbed 5 coins as VAM-11 in the past. That census is MS63, MS61, MS60, XF45, XF40. The MS63, at least, remains in its holder and is actually a VAM-17. image:1878-P-11-jbc-obv.jpgimage:1878-P-11-jbc-rev.jpg Originally, VAM-11 was in the Morgan Top 100 set. First edition guides listed it on page 24 as the third coin in the set. It was later replaced by VAM-14.11. image:Top100-VAM11.jpg Top
