Description
The 1874 Proof Twenty Cent Pattern - J-1358 is a proof twenty-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. Its obverse is Joseph A. Bailly's seated Liberty, first used on the 1873 trade dollar pattern J-1315, and its reverse shows 20 CENTS inside a laurel wreath; the 2 of 20 and the last A of AMERICA were recut in the die. Three or four are known in nickel. It is struck in nickel with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1503, Adams-Woodin 1389 and Taxay EP957. Cataloged as PCGS #61662.
