The 1874 Proof Eagle Pattern - J-1380 is a proof eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1874 eagle dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1874 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. Two aluminum examples are known. It is struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1525 and Adams-Woodin 1365. Cataloged as PCGS #61684.
