1873 Proof Half Dime Pattern - J-1266
Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
Among the very last half dime patterns ever produced, J-1266 features the Seated Liberty obverse and wreath reverse in the standard silver alloy. The Coinage Act of 1873 abolished the half dime, ending a denomination that had been part of the American coinage system since 1794. These 1873 patterns represent the final chapter in the half dime's seventy-nine-year history, making them among the most historically significant pieces in the Trade Dollar era series.
