The 1873 Proof Cent Pattern - J-1255 is a proof cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It was struck from the regular 1873 Indian Head cent dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1873 copper and aluminum strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle. Pollock does not list it; one example tested at 99.4% copper and 0.6% aluminum, and USPatterns.com suggests that others may pass as regular proofs. It is struck in copper with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Adams-Woodin 1360. Cataloged as PCGS #61540.
