Description
The copper companion to J-1185, this three-cent pattern renders the Liberty Head and III design in warm base metal. With only four three-cent varieties for 1872 compared to five in 1871, the denomination received less attention as the pattern program's resources increasingly concentrated on the pivotal dollar denomination. The piece nonetheless maintains the high standard of proof execution that characterized all Trade Dollar era patterns.
