Description
The three-star Liberty cap obverse and large Standard wreath reverse appear here in copper with a reeded edge. Copper strikings of this die combination are considerably rarer than the silver J-837, suggesting that fewer examples were produced for distribution. The copper medium transforms the delicate portrait into a bolder statement, with the stars on Liberty's cap and the agricultural wreath on the reverse standing out in sharp relief against the warm copper fields. These off-metal strikings were typically produced in smaller quantities than their silver counterparts.
