The 1869 Proof Eagle Pattern - J-783 is a proof eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It was struck from the regular 1869 eagle dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1869 off-metal strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets.
