Description
The 1867 Two Cent Piece - Doubled Die Obverse, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Two Cent Pieces 1864-1873 collection. The obverse features a shield with a banner inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST — the first U.S. coin to bear this motto and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing 2 CENTS. Continued decline with a mintage of approximately 2.9 million. The denomination was increasingly redundant. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Auction record: $4,250 MS63BN 12-19-2018 eBay.
