Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1867 Two Cent Piece is part of the Two Cent Pieces 1864-1873 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 2,938,750 two-cent pieces dated 1867. The obverse features a shield with a banner inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST — the first U.S. coin to bear this motto and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing 2 CENTS. Continued decline with a mintage of approximately 2.9 million. The denomination was increasingly redundant. Struck in bronze, weighing 6.22 grams, 23 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #3591.
